Brief Idea behind work

Collage, texture and paradox are words I closely associate with the creation of my
new body of work.  For the last two summers I have spent time in France concentrating on the actual process of producing work rather than starting with a specific subject in mind.  On both occasions this led to mixed media work in which the arch emerged and came to occupy a prominent place in the composition.

I am currently seeking to develop the process and emergent subject matter further.

Title: Asylum
(76cm wide x 51cm high)

This work is inspired by a visit to the asylum outside St. Remy de Provence where Van Gogh spent some time; I found the visit a very moving and profound experience.
