Linda Griffin
'Kernow Reflections' a solo exhibition of
paintings by Linda Griffin a Cornish based and professional artist.
Paintings in various mediums and painted in the old masters style to
give a life-like realism of the subjects. Paint is built up of many
layers to give an almost three dimensional quality and depth.
The idea behind the work is to painstakingly observe the beauty of
nature and the natural world around me and to give a complete realistic
visual experience to the viewer on a two dimensional surface and to
capture the essence of the subject with detail and movement as in the
Surfer, which really captures the natural forces and movement of the
sea. The detailed painting of stone as in the Men-an-tol captures the
three dimensional subject in realism, and I have many images that show
reflections of light and are also reflections of my experiences of
Cornwall that great ancient and beautiful land and sea.
I try to also capture the essence of power in the paintings and I am
drawn to the unseen power of prehistoric sites or the healing power of
the sea and unseen supernatural forces.
