The Moor
This show brings together four artists who have strong connections with the landscape known as ‘West Penwith Moors’, which extend between Pendeen and St Ives along the Atlantic coast. It is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as well as a World Heritage Site. There are countless archaeological sites of importance, ancient field systems and beautiful and mysterious carns and valleys.
Each artist has a special affinity to this moorland and responds to it in different ways. Gillian Cooper and Volker Stox live and work in the heart of the landscape and John Keys and Jesse Leroy Smith often come here from Penzance to make studies and artworks within the moors
Morvah Schoolhouse Gallery is in the middle off this very special landscape and is the perfect venue for this exhibition, which brings together art of four different but congenial views.
