Documentary film on Trengwainton Garden
highlighting hidden stories of the people, plants and place.
Following on from a successful 3-year community heritage project where volunteers brought to light the fascinating history of Trengwainton Garden in Madron, a new creative documentary feature film will now be touring across Cornwall and Devon.
Filmmaker Barbara Santi explains, “The story of Trengwainton Garden has never been told in this way before and it has been a privilege to have spent three years observing and capturing the garden and the gardener’s over the seasons. Our film Home of Springs, Trengwainton tells the story of the people, plants and place. It has stunning panoramic aerial photography and specially commissioned music score with unprecedented access and stories from the past and present. The film has archive materials, newly filmed interviews and Super 8 film to create an atmospheric lyrical journey across the seasons and centuries.
It explores the history and heritage of this remarkable garden and the people who have left their legacy on the land.”
Home of Springs, Trengwainton is 73 minutes and is accompanied by a Q&A with Head Gardener Phil
& a short film by Florence Browne.
The documentary toured 10 venues across Cornwall and Devon in 2019 and the tour was been made possible with funding support from FEAST.
A hard-back, 204 page colour illustrated book can also be purchased at the screenings of at www.trengwaintonheritage.co.uk or via Trengwainton Garden National Trust shop for £25 (plus £5 P&P). You can also join the awen website to be kept up to date of screenings at www.awen.org.uk.
